| All-day Harry Potter read-a-thon comes to the Web |
To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the release of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Scholastic has organized a cover-to-cover reading of the book to take place at its headquarters in New York on September 23. | Price war hotting up for new Harry Potter |
The latest tome from Harry Potter author JK Rowling is still four months from publication, but it has already sparked a price war in the UK. Amazon, Waterstone's and Tesco are all offering the book to pre-order online for £3.49, half the £6.99 cover price. It could be the top-selling book at Christmas. | Israel bans Arabic Harry Potter |
Harry Potter is apparently not welcome in Israel, at least in its Arabic translations imported from Syria and Lebanon. Arab-Israeli publisher Salah Abassi told Israeli public radio on Monday that authorities ordered him to stop importing Arabic-language children's books from the two longtime foes of Israel. All but a handful of the 10,000 copies of What's Your Story? sold within hours of going on sale on Thursday, with customers at Waterstone's booksellers limited to two copies each. | Harry Potter fairytales to be published |
A collection of fairytales penned by Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling is to be published. The Tales of Beedle the Bard, which Rowling first mentioned in The Deathly Hallows, will go on sale on December 4. | Harry Potter drives Scholastic's global sales |
Scholastic's global sales were up 15% to $2,205.6m in the year to end-May 2008, driven by strong Harry Potter trade sales of approximately $270m following its US publication of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in July 2007. | Fans rush to snap up Deathly Hallows in Japanese |
A throng of Harry Potter fans flocked to book stores on early Wednesday, eagerly awaiting the release of the Japanese translation of J.K. Rowling's "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows," the seventh and final book in the Harry Potter series. The Edinburgh hotel suite where JK Rowling completed the Harry Potter series has become a Mecca for fans across the world, at almost £1000 a night. Renamed the J.K. | Tales of Beedle the Bard goes on display in Tokyo |
Amazon on Thursday gave Japanese fans a glimpse of J.K. Rowling's first book since the phenomenally successful Harry Potter series, which it bought for four million dollars. | Rare Harry Potter sale |
An uncorrected copy of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets is expected to fetch up to £400 at a sale next week. The 252-page proof of the novel by Edinburgh's JK Rowling, owned by a school teacher, will be sold next Thursday by Cheffins Auctioneers of Cambridge. | Harry Potter security catches book thief at Clays |
A production worker at St Ives' book printing arm Clays, has been convicted of theft after stealing copies of various books from a plant in Bungay, Suffolk, where the Harry Potter books are printed, to sell on eBay.
